42nd Annual Community Service Awards Gala

"Latinos Who Changed the Face of America"

On September 22, 2011, Hope Community, Inc. hosted our 42nd Annual Community Service Awards Gala! This year's Community Service Awards Gala theme was "Latinos Who Changed the Face of America" and was hosted by Lynda Baquero (WNBC 4).  This year's awardees included Lynda Baquero (WNBC 4) and The Honorable Assemblyman Robert J. Rodriguez (District 68) featuring a keynote address by Adolfo Carrion, Jr. (HUD).  Presenters included State Senator Jose Serrano and Executive Director of El Museo del Barrio Margarita Aguilar.  Additionally, we honored the legacy of the late jazz pianist Hilton Ruiz.

Held at The New York Academy of Medicine, this year's awards gala was the first year the community service award was named after George Calvert -- a founding member and past Executive Director of Hope Community.

On the occasion of the 42nd Annual Community Service Awards, the Board of Directors of Hope Community honored remarkable individuals who have made lasting contributions to the community.  Hope admirers the tremendous service and work of these and many other champions of Hope Community’s mission to create better
communities and enrich the lives of the people who live and work within them.
