Internship Program
Touro College: Currently, Hope Community has two students from Touro College Human Services Department's Field Project Course interning for 112 hours in the field -- a course requirement -- referring residents of Carlos Rios, a Hope-owned-and-managed Senior Residence, and Hope Founders, LP (formerly Ortiz-Wittenberg), which is permanent housing for former homeless families, to access benefits, medical services, childcare and financial services. Both Field Interns are stationed at on-site offices for both Carlos Rios and Hope Founders LP to assist residents in accessing needed services.
El Barrio's Operation Fightback: Hope Community partners with El Barrio's Operation Fightback each summer for an internship program. High school students from all over New York City intern with Hope Community for seven weeks in the summer where they assist Hope's Community Relations staff. The students receive valuable experience and hands-on training while increasing Hope's capacity to serve the residents of East Harlem. For the summer of 2010, Hope Community has five interns through El Barrio's Operation Fightback.
LISC Cashin Community Development Fellowship: During the summer of 2010, Hope Community received its first Fellow through Local Support Initiatives Corporation's Cashin Community Development Fellowship. The Cashin Community Development Fellowship is a six-week fellowship where current college students with an interest in community development intern with local community development organizations to learn more about their operations and mission. Hope Community's Cashin Fellow will assist Hope's Community Relations staff during the summer of 2010.
If your organization is interested in partnering with Hope Community for community programs and initiatives, please contact the Director of Community Affairs at (212) 860-8821 ext. 162.
