Hope at a Glance

Free 12-Hour Quick Books Workshop, Monday July, 6th through Thursday, July 9th from 6:00 PM – 9:00PM @ East Harlem Business Capital Corporation

This introductory course will cover fundamentals of the program, including how to: (1) set up a Quick Books account for sales, inventory, deposits, and estimates; (2) write checks, make deposits, create invoices; (3) track invoices and purchase orders, pay monthly bills, prepare a payroll and reconcile checking; (4) create statements and reports for profit and loss, balance sheets, accounts receivable, accounts payable; and (5) make W-2, 1099 and 940 tax forms, and prepare tax reports and quarterly income payments. This is a free course totaling 12 hours - four classes 3 hours each. Visit the EHBCC website to register. Space is limited; first come, first served. The first 12 to register will have a reserved seat. Classes will be held at EHBCC offices.

East Harlem Business Capital Corporation Bilingual Food-Protection Courses Starting in July

The East Harlem Business Capital Corporation (EHBCC) will again be offering a bilingual Food Protection Course required by the Department of Health, for supervisors of food operations of food service establishments or non-retail establishments (i.e. restaurants, catering, etc.) Participants who complete this five evening, 15-hour course and successfully pass an examination the following week administered by the Department of Health will be issued their Food Certification ID. These energy-efficient bulbs help protect our health by reducing pollution. You can help the environment by recycling your burnt-out CFLs. Spirit of East Harlem Mural Vandalized

During the early hours of June 12-13, Hope Community's world renowned "Spirit of East Harlem" mural was vandalized. The landmark four-story painting has significant historical roots in the community and has served as a cultural attraction for thousands of students and tourists. Are you behind on your rent?  Are you facing a possible eviction from your home?  Are you living on a fixed income?  Do you have minor children?  If the answers to these questions are yes, and you live, work or go to school on Manhattan’s East Side  (between 59th Street and 110th Street), Lenox Hill Neighborhood House may be able to help you. Cases will be screened through our intake process, and will be accepted on an individual case-by-case basis.  If we cannot assist, we will make an appropriate referral.
